Dorothy's Chicken Breast

Chicken Breast ...
I can't quite decipher some of this recipe ...
I think it goes as follows:
Sprinkle worc. (Worcestershire?) sauce over all.
Sprinkle (sweet ???), sm amt (???)
1 pkg Lipton's (beef?) soup mix
Sm amt water
350 degrees - 1-1/2 hours.

Oh well, I like the picture on the recipe card!!!

Chocolate Snack Cake - Betty Crocker

I found this recipe torn from a flour bag in a drawer at my mom's house.

I love looking at all of the interesting variations of this single recipe!

Mrs. Cree's Green Cabbage Worm???

This card was in a box of recipe cards that I found a long time ago ...
I think it may have been put in with the recipes by mistake.
At least I HOPE so!!!

Rum Balls

I'm not sure where I found this recipe card ... since I've never made rum balls.

They sound really easy, and I would love to make some for Christmas ... except for my pesky doctor who says "no sugar, no saturated fats, no alcohol". Sigh.

Therefore, I share this found recipe with you. If you make these, please let me know how they turned out!

Hot Chocolate Mix

This just sounds so warm on a chilly November day!

Oatmeal Caramel Bars

These sound delicious, even though, sniff, I can't eat them. Sniff.

I felt a kinship with whoever wrote this recipe ... don't you just hate it when your ink pen gives out right in the middle of something important and you have to use one that doesn't match?

I'm just so glad I'm not the only one!!!

Marshmallow-Date Log

I will never make these desserts.
I am not fond of marshmallows (except over the campfire), and can't stand dates (except fresh). And those candy orange slices?
I think they're pure sugar!

So why do I like this recipe page?
Because of the writing.
It fascinates me to think of who may have written out this recipe ... for what purpose ...
This one actually looks like it may have been written by a young inexperienced hand.

It's my imagination that likes this recipe, not my taste buds.

Al has opened up his month-long meme "SUNDAY SCANS".

Sharon Snow's Crazy Cake

I wonder what's so "crazy" about this cake ... maybe it's the vinegar?

I'm not even sure where or when I found this recipe ... it's just one that turned up in my collection.

Bread Pudding For Two

This is one of a handful of 3x5" recipe cards I found scattered about in a bin of books at the Goodwill Outlet Store.

I have had bread pudding before - once it was good, once it was not.
I don't know if this is a good recipe ... or a not-so-good recipe!

Mystery Cookies

There's something kind of fun about going through someone else's recipe scrap stash ... and finding one of my own!

This is a no-bake cookie recipe I got from a Home Economics class in high school.
As you can tell, it was a well used recipe! I used to make these wonderful cookies several times a year. Once I didn't boil the mixture long enough, and the cookies never did harden ... but they still tasted divine (eaten with a spoon!).

My doctor says I can't have these kinds of goodies anymore. Sigh -
But I still have the memory of how good they were!!!

Another Pumpkin Recipe - This Time Libby's "Famous" Pie

This is another pumpkin recipe I found in mom's clipping drawer.
It was printed on a can label.
Mmmmmm, I'm gonna need to make some pumpkin pie with all of these wonderful recipes!!!

Pumpkin Bread

I was digging through mom's old "recipe drawer" (repository for interesting clippings from across the years) - when I found this recipe torn from an old C and H Sugar box ...
Pumpkin Bread - perfect for this time of year!

Lady Baltimore Cake

I was caught by the title of this found recipe - "Lady Baltimore Cake" - but mostly I was intrigued by the writing. Someone put a lot of time into transcribing this recipe - to make it tiny enough to just fit onto the page.

Smoked Pork with Kraut

The only thing that appeals to me in this recipe ...
Is the apple.

It's still an interesting recipe, found in a box of hand written recipe cards a long time ago.

Carob Zucchini Cake

This is another found recipe that looks to be far more healthy than the average dessert cake!

This is definitely one I want to try in the near future!

Better For My HEART Cake???

I found this interesting recipe clipping tucked between the pages of an old cookbook.
The picture itself was rather off-putting to me ...
Cakes, with their sugar, butter, processed flours ... are so way off limits for me and my HEART!

Then I started reading the ingredients for this cake.
Whole wheat flour ... wheat bran cereal ... very little sugar ...

My sweet tooth may have the final say on this one ...
And maybe my heart will thank me???

If I do try this recipe, I will let you know if it really is as good as it sounds!
Without the maraschino cherries, though. I hate those things. I have a jar of regular canned cherries somewhere, don't I????

In the meantime, I'm going to go out on a limb today ... and while this post doesn't have a heart photo/art/poem/etc ... it is still heart conscious - and I am therefore going to link up with Guest Heart Thursday!!! To see hearts from around the world, visit "Random Hearts" - and share YOUR heart on Guest Heart Thursday!!!

Louisiana Yam Corn Bread

I found this recipe in a mostly-ruined hand-written cookbook. I saved as many pages as I could.

Chicken and Rice (Casserole)

This is a simple recipe that sounds really good!
I would think it could be easily modified as well -

For instance ...
Instead of onions, use fresh (or canned) asparagus. Then substitute a can of cream of asparagus soup for the cream of celery ... mmmmm

OR add a can of your fave veggies before pouring on the soup mix.

OR ... (okay I'll stop now - I'm getting hungry!!!)

Beef Stew Spices

This isn't exactly a recipe ... but several years ago I made a stew that turned out so well that Mom asked if I would write down the spices I used.

So I did.

Chicken Wings Bake - Lyle A.

This one looks quite tasty ... except for that whole stick of butter, and the cup of brown sugar ... both of which my doctor says are "off the menu" for me.

Sigh.
But they do sound really, really good!

Rose R's Shrimp Cheese Squares

I wonder why the crusts of the bread slices must be cut off ...

Virginia's Sour Cream Apple Pie

According to Virginia, this is "very good"!
(I'm assuming this yummy mixture was put into a pre-made pie crust.)

Grandma Nelson's Head Cheese

I loved finding these two recipes ...
"Grandma Nelson" ... and ...

"Mother Nelson".

I found these recipe cards scattered about in the bins at the Goodwill Surplus Store.
What a wonderful heritage to have thrown away!

Sesame Chicken Imperial - Lee P.

Kahlua/Klua/Khalua/Kalhua/Kalua

I found this well-used recipe in my friend Mona's stuff that she was getting rid of.
I just had to save it!!!
